How To Get Rid Of Bad Foot Odor Naturally At Home

Bad foot odor or smelly feet, can be really embarrassing for those suffering from this problem. This usually occurs when your feet sweat and the sweat does not evaporate because you are wearing shoes or socks. Bacteria naturally present on your skin grow as they feed on the sweat and dead skin cells, producing the foul smell.

Many natural cures are worth trying to get rid of annoying foot odor. You’ll need to follow them regularly for a certain period of time to get good results. Most are able to resolve the problem within a week or so.

Lemon/Lime Juice Soak:

Take half bucket water and heat the water. When the water is hot add three lemons juice to the water. Soak your feet in this water for 15 minutes. Then take off your feet from water and wash them neatly with cold water. Dry your feet with clean towel and apply moisturizer.  Repeat for every two days to avoid infection.

Vinegar Soak:

Add one cup of vinegar, rosewater and honey to 10 mugs of water. Soak you feet in this water for 20 minutes. Take out your feet from water and massage your feet. Wash them with cold water and clean with dry towel. You get rid of foul smell and you feet will become soft and smooth.

Baking soda Soak:

Take one fourth bucket of water and add two spoons of baking soda. Keep your feet in the water for 30 minutes. Take out your feet after 30 minutes and wash them with cold water. Baking powder acts like a wax and removes dead cells, dirt and blackness.

Tamarind Soak:

For cleaning the foot, eve tamarind juice works wonders. Take half bucket hot water and add small marble size tamarind. Keep your feet in this solution for 20 minutes and then wash them with cold water. It will clean your feet and removes the bad foot odor.

Epsom Salt:

Epsom salt can also minimize the smell coming from your feet as it fights microbial infection and neutralizes foot odor. A detoxifying foot bath with Epsom salt is also soothing for aching feet. Mix two teaspoons of Epsom salt in half a bucket of warm water. Soak your feet in the solution for 10 to 15 minutes. For best results, do this before going to sleep so that you do not have to wear socks or shoes for a few hours.

Black tea:

Black Tea has tannic acid that helps kill the bacteria that produce foot odor. It also helps close pores on your feet, thereby reducing the amount of sweat on which the bacteria feed. Boil two black tea bags in three cups of hot water. Add half a bucket of normal water to lower the temperature of the solution. Soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes. Do this daily for about a week.
