The First Cut Designers:
The day started with a show presented by FDCI and Elle called The First Cut Designers which featured 6 of India’s up and coming design talent – The Meraki Project by Sonali Pamnami, Asa by Shreya Oza, Example by Moutushi & Rituraj, Lola by Suman, Vitasta by Aditi Dhar, Dvibhumi by Vyshnavi. We were pleasantly surprised by how fabulous the show by first cut designers was.
Asa’s collection featured easy silhouttes and a classic colour palette derived from natural dyes. Glimpse of Asa’s collection.
Example had Kerala cotton dresses, bright bandhani prints and robe jackets that make for the perfect travel wardrobe.
Vitasta’s collection was based on the idea of asymmetry using leather fringes, strips of leather and punch-work patterns.
From Dvibhumi’s ‘Rythm-Rawa-Riyaz’ jewellery line that showed clean lines, repetitive patterns and visual rythm to Lola by Suman B that showed a Mediterranean sun-kissed romance in a collection with hues of gold, taupe, burgundy, pink and beige, the show had some spectacular sartorial moments.
